What is the difference between ballpoint and gel pens?
Ballpoint pens dry quickly on paper and are resistant to smudging. The ball in the tip of the pen rotates to evenly dispense oil based ink while preventing the pen to dry out. Gel pens use water based gel instead of ink. Gel pens create smooth, bold lines, and are great for drawing. Gel pens often take longer to dry than ballpoint pens.
Which pen tip type is best?
Each pen type provides a unique benefit. Smaller pen tips allow for smaller marks and thinner lines. These types of tips are best for writing on porous surfaces. Medium pen tips are great for all note taking and handwriting needs. Pens with a bold tip yield darker and thicker lines. These marks can be easier to see than those from thinner tipped pens.
